When we see vintage bikes, such as this Norton we have to admit they have a certain allure to them. Whether your an avid enthusiast or casual observer, your head turns and your mind wonders whenever you hear and/or see one of these beauties floating down the road. This Flat Tank 18 built by Norton came via a friend of ours to our grubby hands.
These Flat Tanks are coveted as they were made for a brief period (1900-28) and due to economic times (i.e. forcing more production efficiencies), esthetics and design challenges, became most important to a manufacturers survival, thus the Flat Tankers are truly the last of the hand-built motorcycles. Norton’s (called by fans “the untouchable or unbeatable Norton) has a rich history which we all can benefit from if we just spend the time and effort to learn about them.
