The garage will be located in the back of the PERRI INK. Cartel on the historic Melrose Ave. The NASH Sickle Garage will include custom motorcycle builds, repairs, service and fabrication.

“We’ve been looking to do something in the southern California area for years,” Taber, owner of Nash Motorcycle Company said. “Through building a relationship with Nick and the Cartel, things just kind of fell into place. We also wanted to extend our reach to our customer base in the SoCal area, and my wife would like a tan.”

With parts manufacturing and additional motorcycle builds remaining at the NASH headquarters in Vancouver, WA, this new garage will be an extension of the already well respected NASH Motorcycle brand.

The already diverse PERRI INK. Cartel which opened its hybrid doors last year was the first-of-its-kind to include custom motorcycles, motorcycle parts & accessories, a tattoo and piercing parlor, barber shop and clothing line.

According to Cartel owner Nick Perri: “The expansion of the motorcycle angle of this shop was a no brainer. It’s been the biggest part of our business so far, and the opportunity to have a world class builder open a garage here is simply incredible. Taber and I bonded early on over our belief in next generation motorcycle builders, and supporting American made companies and products.”

Well ok, maybe not the last one. It just isn’t one that crops up much as a bastion for creativity. But that is changing if Australian builder Matt Machine has anything to say about it. The video was shot as a promo for his shop and besides the behind-the-scenes snapshots of the workshop where Matt hand-builds vintage motorcycles, we get a feel for the breathtaking backdrop that the southern tablelands of New South Wales, Australia provides for its community of easy riders. On the list of motorcycles Matt Machine has built and which are showcase on his site is a Moto Guzzi Mark 1 Le Mans, 50 Panhead, 48 Panhead, and a 1926 Norton Model 18, to name a few.

His creation dubbed “Moto Undone” may not look like your standard motorbike, but it is clearly more interesting than your standard cruiser. The square mirror body practically vanishes when the motorcycle is driven at speed, leaving spectators to wonder how Ruiter floats down the highway at 70 MPH. There are few visual elements other than the handlebars and the wheels hanging out below its skirt. Even more intriguing is the electric powertrain inside this bike. Moto Undone uses a 1000W, 48V electric hub motor to provides about 3 hours or 90 miles of fossil fuel free riding. However since the bike doesn’t have any instrumentation, maximum speed is anyone guess.
Which is exactly what you would expect from a woman working in a predominantly male oriented industry. Of course there is always two sides of every coin, and this week we got to see the “softer” side of Athena with the launch of her latest accessory. Highway Harlot ®is a woman’s fragrance that is subtle, yet powerfully romantic, and is made from all natural ingredients. This scent is everything one would expect from Chickie, who believes in keeping her femininity in one hand and her welding torch in the other. “Like a finely tuned machine, this fragrance contains a balanced blend of key ingredients that accentuate ones’ own chemistry and fits with any ensemble, day or evening” she remarked.
“It is the kind of perfume that brings a woman’s sensuality straight from her heart to her handlebars”, says Chelsea Marris of Pompano Beach during the fragrance unveiling at the Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale today. Franco DeMarrio of Sunrise also expressed his enthusiasm, “This perfume is pleasant and sexy on my wife, who by the way rides a cool motorcycle!”
Highway Harlot® is an affordable treat for yourself and a great gift idea for wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and friends with a retail price of $ 39.95 per 3.4 ounce bottle. Available here, orders are being filled now; please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery. To obtain further information and dealer pricing, email info@vagabondchoppers.com or call (954) 360-0075.

The Sturgis Buffalo Chip party rocks hard from August 5-13. The Buffalo Chip rocks hard for a non-stop week of partying with some of the most legendary bands of all time with Stevie Nicks, Toby Keith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, STYX, Poison, Def Leppard, John Fogerty, Alice Cooper, Jeff Bridges and friends, Tesla, Pop Evil, Puddle of Mudd and many, many more. The Annual Legends Ride, the Ride that Rocks, will take place on August 8. The Official Buffalo Chip Challenge Bike will lead the charge in the Annual Legends Ride. The bike was custom built by Western Dakota Tech students with the help of master builder Mike Prugh and will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Proceeds from the bike sale and donations garnered from the Legends Ride go to local charities, making this event a feel-good ride all the way around.

This year’s 11th Annual Motorcycle as Art exhibition, “Slant Artist-An Eccentric View on Motorcycles and Art” will focus on avant-garde artist, Jeff Decker. Assembled by world-famous motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter, the exhibition captures the personal expression, creativity and spirit that permeate the history and culture of motorcycling.

In addition to Decker’s ten beautiful bronze sculptures, there will be a large and eclectic display of motorcycles and wall art culled from his personal collection, friends and other artists filling the 7,000 square foot gallery. Decker will be working on a new sculpture in the exhibit area.

Fans have likened the Sturgis Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show to the Grammy’s, as it comes around once a year and it recognizes the best of the best custom builders bringing their amazing bikes for show, hoping to win one of the prestigious titles.

There will be other spectacular bike shows you won’t want to miss. The Chip will be hosting the First Annual Buffalo Chip Badlands Victory Bike Show. The show will be held on August 10 from 4 to 8 pm. The winner will be awarded a trophy on the Wolfman Jack Stage during a set break between Lukas Nelson, Gregg Allman and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Also, The Legendary Buffalo Chip will host the first and only LED Bike Show and Parade in the history of the motorcycle industry during the 2011 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Sturgis Motorcycle Rally enthusiasts will light up the night in a showcase of custom dynamics. After the show, stick around as the owner of the most spectacular display is crowned champion on the Legendary Buffalo Chip main stage.

Lingerie for Life is an event in which lovely ladies wear 27 unique, one-of-a-kind bras to be auctioned with proceeds going to The American Cancer Society.

You know there is a nagging issue sticking us in the brain when we resort to writing about it! However with a recent “first hand experience” we had to ask ourselves the question: “when does customer service outweigh a companies own paranoia….Or does it ever“?
Case in point is the recent experience we had over something simple….the purchase of a AIC controller for our BMW Project (which has been featured here over the past 9 months). It seems that on the surface this would be a straight forward and somewhat painless process. Aka, they send us a form to complete (which we did) providing necessary data on the specs of the bike (aka, Injector size, vehicle fuel pressure, stock HP, Boost hp at 8 psi and 15 psi, Peak RPM, Turbo manufacturer and compressor map), then they ship, we install then tweak etc…etc. Oh, no sir! Not that simple at all. Seems this particular manufacturer has a penance for spewing out some rambling diatribe on why they are “not in the information business” and that “we do not have the time” to answer questions and that there are “more people out there with projects who want to know how to do things than there are people who want to buy things by a factor of 1000:1” and “We do not provide any info or specifications on how we do things“.

Apparently they have a total lack of customer service but also the delusional impression we as consumers are even remotely interested. Hate to break it to ya buddy but “We don’t give a damn“. We just want our #*%$!*# parts! Keep the drama to yourself. Anyway, suffice it to say we’ve moved on to another manufacturer with a more customer centric approach and willingness to sell us a product without any drama.

It may have something to do with the fact that he’s turning out some kickin products or that Hugh’s HandBuilt is a small custom shop in the Mountains on North Carolina (aka our home state). Hugh specializes in product design and custom fabrication. Hugh’s latest product is for the Yamaha XS650 fans. As Hugh states, “Lots of us Chopper/Bobber/Tracker/Cafe/Custom builders are deleting the giant clunky speedometer on these bikes, and that leaves most using the ugly chunky speedometer drive on the front wheel in place. This new Speedo Delete spaces the wheel just like stock, while cleaning up the front end“. Machined from 6061 Aluminum to exact tolerances and specs the instillation is pretty straight forward. Simply remove the wheel, remove the speedo drive, pop out the dust seal from the wheel and remove the speedo drive tabs. Pop the dust seal back in (if you so choose, its not required now that the Speedo Unit is gone) and you are ready to go… Install takes about 15 minutes. And for $42.50, that’s not a bad solution for you Yamaha SX 650 fans. Check Hugh’s stuff out.
